The San Francisco Chronicle had an interesting article on the business of blogging. A great quote from Paul Chaney of The Radiant Marketing Group:

It’s not so much about controlling the message as engaging in a
conversation. It lets people see the inside of your business and who you are.
It builds a relationship on the blog and off the blog. I don’t know of any
other medium that allows that kind of communication.

I think that Paul is right. It’s all about engaging people vs broadcasting a message.

Pete Blackshaw, of BlogPulse, says that Successful blogging rests on devoted principles of interactivity, informality, real-time listening, rapid legal review, and
the ability to process feedback in a timely manner. Most companies and brands just aren’t there yet.
And…he’s right.
