I waited rather impatiently for the time when they would open up Facebook to my university. Finally, it opened up and I was one of the first people at my school to sign up. As a result, my inbox was flooded daily with dozens of friend requests.<\/p>\n<p>Fast forward a couple of years and we saw high school kids getting into Facebook. Fast forward a few more years and anyone with an email address is signing up for Facebook!<\/p>\n<p>In the beginning, Facebook was an exclusive club with limited membership.\u00a0 Now, this club has almost <a href=\"http:\/\/mashable.com\/2012\/07\/26\/facebook-955-million-users\/\">a billion members<\/a>. Facebook has become the destination for extensive marketing campaigns and promotions brought to you by some of the world\u2019s largest companies and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/cocacola\">brands<\/a>. And, there\u2019s this <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Criticism_of_Facebook\">privacy issue<\/a> that doesn\u2019t seem to go away\u2026<\/p>\n<p>The mainstream media tells us that <a href=\"http:\/\/articles.latimes.com\/2012\/may\/30\/business\/la-fi-facebook-teens-20120531\">some teens aren\u2019t liking Facebook as much as older users<\/a>. \u00a0And, the comments in this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sodahead.com\/living\/has-facebook-lost-its-cool-factor\/question-1895559\/\">SodaHead poll<\/a> seem to suggest that Facebook has become a &#8220;geriatric social network&#8221;. There\u2019s even <a href=\"http:\/\/myparentsjoinedfacebook.com\/\">this website<\/a> set up for people that aren\u2019t to jazzed that their parents are even on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>While the number of cool things that you can do on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/\">Facebook<\/a> has increased, do you think Facebook\u2019s losing its \u201ccool\u201d appeal to the masses?
