The distance between the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mtv.com\/\">old line broadcast<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/music.channel.aol.com\/live_8_concert\/home\">newer interactive models<\/a> couldn&#8217;t have been more obvious. <\/p>\n<p>Live 8 streaming video put the people in control. It was up to me to watch (and listen) to what and when I wanted to. Actors hired by the networks to talk over the music were filler in between advertisements. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.clickz.com\/experts\/brand\/buzz\/article.php\/3518471\">Many marketers have written about<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/startpage.aol.com\/\">AOL&#8217;s<\/a> apparant marketing windfall from these shows. Besides, where else can you catch <a href=\"http:\/\/hyperrust.org\/\">Neil Young<\/a> in Canada, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pinkfloyd.co.uk\">Pink Floyd<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alennox.net\/jump1024.html\">Annie Lennox<\/a> in London &#8212; all without leaving your living room? <\/p>\n<p><em>Put that against VH1 who during Pink Floyd\u2019s first time playing<br \/>\ntogether with Roger Waters in 24 years, cuts to their VJ\u2019s for some<br \/>\nbrief irrelevant commentary.
